This week's Attitude of Gratitude post goes to Steve Irwin - The Crocodile Hunter. As you are probably aware, Steve died earlier this month. It may seem odd that I am thanking someone I don't know and who is no longer here; however, I feel quite grateful to have watched Steve's show and experienced his incredible passion.
I was always moved by his passion and appreciation for wildlife. His passion seemed to just leap out of the television and was contagious! I loved watching his show and seeing him get really excited about finding an animal or reptile. I loved when he would talk to an animal and tell it how beautiful it was - that made me smile and for that I am grateful.
If we could all have half as much passion as Steve Irwin... what a wonderful world it would be! As I watched Barbara Walter's interview with his wife Terry Irwin, I was again moved. She talked about how Steve never did sweat the small stuff. She said that he taught her that it is ok to dance in the rain and play in the mud puddles. How awesome is that! A message many of us could learn or re-learn.
I believe that life is meant to be enjoyed and lived with passion. It is important to find your passion and then express it for the world to see. Steve Irwin was an exemplary model of this. While I am deeply saddened by his death, I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude for the influence the Croc Hunter had on me.
So... here's to dancing in the rain and playing in the mud and living passionately and enjoying every moment of life! Thank you Steve Irwin!
