Recently Gayle King (editor at large of O magazine) was on Good Morning America talking about survival tips for women. The segment was great - watch this video to see it! They really offered some great tips for women. However, during the show Gayle said that women have intuition, but she wasn't sure if men have intuition. I felt compelled to pull out my soapbox... so, here I go. This is a big pet peeve of mine... of course men have intuition (no disrespect to Ms. King)! We all have intuitive potential. We can all develop our intuition with some patience and practice. Intuition is what I like to call whispers from the soul. It is our ability to connect with our internal wisdom... our essential spirit. Intuition is our ability to connect with the Universal wisdom... the source of infinite possibilities. This is not something that is limited to women or to certain "gifted" people. Everyone is intuitive.
When I present workshops about intuition, I am often asked about whether men are intuitive. My answer is always the same... yes men are intuitive. Men often use different words to describe their intuition - such as gut feelings or hunches - but they have the same intuitive potential as women. I usually point out that men who are police officers and CEOs are some of the most intuitive people. Police officers must rely on their intuition or gut feelings for survival. They quickly learn to trust their hunches in order to do their job and stay safe. Successful CEOs also learn to trust their gut feelings in order to make quick decisions when they don't have the time to gather lots of details.
I would like to suggest that we put the term "women's intuition" to rest and just call it intuition. What are your thoughts?
