What would you do with an extra 36 hours?

Lorraine Cohen from Powerfull Living tagged me with the 36 hour meme.  This meme started with Edward Mills at Evolving Times and is based on Tim Ferris's popular book The 4-Hour Workweek.  The question is what would I like to do if I had an extra 36 hours a week.

Let me first say that my work week is often longer than 40 hours/week - I am sure that is true for many of you too.  So, I would have more than an extra 36 hours if I cut my work week down to 4 hours!  So what would I do with my time if I could cut my work week down to 4 hours?

Read more - I read a lot now, but I always have a stack of books in my to-read stack.  I would love to take more time each day to read.  Perhaps I should put Ferris's book on the top of the list.  :)

Play more - I would spend more time playing and having fun with friends and family.  Playfulness and humor are essential for my health and happiness.

More time in nature - I love to spend time in nature and take photos.  This is something that helps me connect with my essential spirit.  It feeds my soul.

Spend more time with friends - I know that my friendships often suffer when I get really busy.  I don't have the energy or time to give to others when I am working too hard.  I would be sure to nurture my friendships and take the time to spend with friends.

I suspect my list looks a lot like yours.  Here is the question that this meme brings up for me - why am I not taking more time to do these things right now?  Rather than simply giving this a quick answer to meet a request to participate in this meme, I want to take this idea to heart.  What can I do to change my work situation to make more time for fun, family and reading?

This is not about waiting for something to shift... I need to take the time.  I need to make room for these things in my life.  It is about looking at my priorities and making sure that my actions and my life match up with my priorities.  The reality is that when I do take more time for these things that I love, I am more productive and effective.  Funny, how I sometimes forget that and get caught up in being too busy for taking care of me!

Lorraine - thanks for tagging me!  This was a perfect thing for me to think about this week!

What about you?  Are you taking time to do the things you love?  Are you working too hard?
